IE Reflection Term 4 2017
This term for my ie I researched ancient Mayans, my questions that I asked included; 1. Who were the ancient Mayans? 2. Where were they from? 3. What was their religion? 4. Why did they do sacrifice? 5. Did they invent anything that significantly impacted modern culture?
I enjoyed researching this topic because it really interested me and the Mayans have a very interesting culture and were quite an amazing people. My summary of my IE is the Ancient Mayans were an old civilisation who lived in Mexico. They invented the Mayan calendar and lots of historically important things they did a lot of sacrifice, they had lots of temples and some of which remain intact and some of which are in ruins, most are popular tourist sites. the Mayans still have a lot of relatives and descendants alive today, round about 7 million, they still live around Mexico, Central America and areas like Guatemala and the Yucatan Peninsula. The Mayans were and still are, a culturally significant people who invented lots of amazing things.
I like doing IEs because you actually get to pick a topic that interests you, at quite a lot of other schools you don’t get to do something as cool as this, you all have to learn about the same thing, I think, for example, if you aren’t interested in how engines work then you shouldn’t have to learn about how engines work, you should learn a topic that interests you.
This is the Success rubric that we used to determine how well we did:
